At River Tyne Academy, we believe that strong partnerships are at the heart of successful alternative provision. By working collaboratively with schools, families, local authorities, education and health professionals, community organisations and other agencies, we ensure that our pupils receive the right support at the right time.
As part of River Tees Multi-Academy Trust, we are proud to be part of a wider community of schools and professionals committed to improving outcomes for children and young people. We draw on the expertise, experience and resources within our Trust while developing strong partnerships across Gateshead and the wider region.
Our partnerships are particularly important in supporting pupils who may have experienced barriers to education, are at risk of exclusion or require additional support to engage successfully in learning.
We work closely with mainstream schools and other professionals to provide a three-tier approach to alternative provision:
- Prevention – working with schools to identify and address barriers early, helping pupils to remain successfully in mainstream education.
- Intervention – providing targeted, short-term support and outreach to help pupils overcome barriers and re-engage with education.
- Long-term provision – providing high-quality alternative education for pupils who require a longer-term placement, with a continued focus on their progress, wellbeing and future pathways.
